Clarence Stanley Harris1

ID#1862, b. 12 December 1898, d. 8 May 1983
Father: George Luther Harris
Mother: Ella Margaret Wilson

Birth date: 12 December 1898.2 Interestingly his birth is given as 12 December 1896 on his WWI draft registration.3 However, that date seems improbable as he was reported as being one year old in the 1900 federal census, not three years old.4

Father: George Luther Harris
Mother: Ella Margaret Wilson

Birth date: Lastly, the date of 12 December 1898 was supplied by Clarence himself and was supported by his mother's affidavit for his delayed birth certificate
Birth place.2
Birth place: Moundsville, Marshall County, West Virginia, (on the family farm.)3,2

On 6 April 1917, the United States declared war on Germany and officially entered World War I. At age 21, Clarence registered in Wheeling, Ohio County, West Virginia, and was described as follows: tall, medium build, brown eyes, dark brown hair.3

As of 5 June 1918, when he registered for the draft, Clarence was employed by the Wheeling Stamping Co., 21st & Water Streets, Wheeling, West Virginia, and was living at 64 Alley 18, Wheeling, West Virginia.3

At age 84, Clarence died on 8 May 1983.5 He was interred in the Fork Ridge Universalist Church Cemetery, Fork Ridge Road, Glen Easton, Marshall County, West Virginia; his name appears on the gravestone as "Clarence S. Harris."5

Margaret and John lived with their family at Terrill Ridge, Marshall County, West Virginia, (approximately 1/2 mile from the Fork Ridge Universalist Church.)3

At age 91, Margaret died from arterio sclerosis on 24 March 1945 at R.D. 2, Glen Easton, Marshall County, West Virginia.1 She was interred in the Fork Ridge Universalist Church Cemetery, Fork Ridge Road, Glen Easton, Marshall County, West Virginia; her name appears on the gravestone as "Margaret Ingram." Father: Levi Phillipps
Mother: Sarah (unknown)

Birth date: 27 December 1819 (calculated from age at death of 80 years, 9 months, 29 days.)2 Note that a second death register gives her age as 81 at death - if the calculated date is correct, she was only two months short of turning 81.3
Birth place: Pennsylvania.2

Hannah's death record indicates that she had lived in West Virginia for 60 years; so she apparently left Pennsylvania around 1840.3

Hannah married Silas Ingram about 1844 (based on report in 1900 federal census that they had been married for 56 years.)4

ID#1869, b. 3 February 1888, d. February 1974
Father: John Franklin Harris
Mother: Margaret "Maggie" Ingram

Birth date: 3 February 1888
Birth place: Glen Easton, Marshall County, West Virginia,
The Register of Births indicates that the "Baptist Church" was both the place of birth and the father's residence. Interestingly, the entries for two other persons (Isaac Hubbs and Bertha Harris) list the "Universal Church" as both the place of birth and the father's residence. The Universal Church would be an abbreviation for the Universalist Church on Fork Ridge, and there is a Baptist Church a few miles away also on Fork Ridge. It strikes me as odd that these three individuals have these entries pertaining to churches when everyone else has more typical locations for a birth, such as the ridge name or town - perhaps more info will turn up later.1,2

He lived at Terrill Ridge, Marshall County, West Virginia, with John F. and Margaret Harris (his parents), as well as Dorothy Harris and Hannah Harris (his sisters).3

On 6 April 1917, the United States declared war on Germany and officially entered World War I. As a result of the Selective Service Act passed on 18 May 1917, every male living within the United States between the ages of 18 and 45 was required to register for the draft during one of three separate registration periods. The first registration was held 5 June 1917 for men aged 21 to 31. At age 29, Carlton registered in Glen Easton, Marshall County, West Virginia, and was described as follows: medium height and build, brown eyes, black hair.4

As of 1917 when he registered for the draft, Carlton was a farmer employed by his father at Glen Easton, West Virginia, and was living at Glen Easton, West Virginia.4

On February 1974, Carlton and his sister, Dorothy, were murdered in their home in Moundsville, Marshall County, West Virginia.5,3 He was interred in the Fork Ridge Universalist Church Cemetery, Fork Ridge Road, Glen Easton, Marshall County, West Virginia; his name appears on the gravestone as "Carlton W.
