Malissa married William Ross Church, son of Hugh Church and Sarah (unknown), on 1 September 1898 in Calhoun County, West Virginia.1

Malissa died at age 65 from carcinoma of uterus on 29 December 1940 at Revere, Gilmer County, West Virginia.3 Malissie's body was interred on 30 December 1940 in the Revere, Gilmer County, West Virginia.3
