Lewis's first marriage was to Roxie Gertrude Moore, daughter of Z. Avril Moore and Adaline B. "Lina Bell" Taylor, on 28 October 1930 at Moundsville, Marshall County, West Virginia. C. A. Plum, a Minister in the Church of Christ, certified that he united them in marriage.4 He became a widower at age 36 when Roxie died on 7 April 1943.2,5

His second marriage was to Helen Lee West, daughter of Arch D. West and Nellie Viola Murphy, on 23 October 1943 at Moundsville, Marshall County, West Virginia. J. H. Carson, a Minister of the Methodist Church, certified that he united them in marriage.6

Lew was listed as the informant on the death certificate of his father, Charles G. Aston, dated 2 October 1948.7

Lew died at age 93 from Alzheimer's Disease on 15 July 2000 at Mound View Health Care Center, Moundsville, Marshall County, West Virginia. The family requested memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer Disease Patient Care Fund Family Service of the Upper Ohio Valley or to the American Heart Association.2,8 Interred on 18 July 2000 in the Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery, Fork Ridge Road, Moundsville, Marshall County, West Virginia, his name appears on the gravestone as "Lewis A. Aston Sr". An additional inscription reads, "Married Oct. 23, 1943."9
