David married Melissa Jane Bartlett, daughter of Rufus Bartlett and Cleopatra Sherwin, in February 1841 in Marshall County, Virginia. John Parriott certified that he solemnized the rites of matrimony.4 According to a couple Harris researchers, they were married on the 28th of February.5,6

David died at age 81 on 20 February 1897 at Dallas City, Hancock/Henderson Counties, Illinois.8,5 David's body was interred in the Dallas City Cemetery, Dallas City, Henderson County, Illinois.1
