Birth date: 14 January 1823.1,2 It has also been reported that Melissa was born on 14 January 1822.3
Birth place: Moundsville, Ohio County, Virginia.1,2

Melissa married David Harris, son of John Harris and Nancy Agnes Binnegar, in February 1841 in Marshall County, Virginia. John Parriott certified that he solemnized the rites of matrimony.4 According to a couple Harris researchers, they were married on the 28th of February.1,5

Melissa died at age 90 on 2 January 1914 at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Charles and Clara Bonham, Galesburg, Knox County, Illinois.7,8 Melissa's body was interred in the Dallas City Cemetery, Dallas City, Henderson County, Illinois.3
