Levina Harris1,2

ID#255, b. about 1819, d. 22 September 1889
Father: John Harris
Mother: Nancy Agnes Binnegar

Birth date: about 1819
Birth place: Virginia It is likely that she was born in Ohio County.3

The correct spelling of her name is questionable - it has been found in various records as Levina, Lavin, Lavina and Lavinia. I lean towards Levina as that is how it was spelled in the Virginia Marriages database (1740-1850) on Ancestry.com, in the Marriage Register for both of her marriages, on the Marshall County Death Register, and on daughter Mary's marriage license.

Levina married Robert Nixon.1

Levina's first marriage was to John Nixon in August 1843 in Marshall County, Virginia. John Parriott certified that he "solemnized the rites of matrimony."4

She became a widow when Robert died on 7 April 1848.5

Her second marriage was to John Parker Jr., son of John Parker Sr., on 10 October 1852 in Marshall County, Virginia. She was the widow of John Robert Nixon; he was the widower of Catherine Burley. Lewis Janney (sp.), a minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church, certified that he united them in marriage.6

Levina died from paralysis on 22 September 1889 at Pleasant Valley, Marshall County, West Virginia. Her name was recorded as Levina in one death register7, and as Lennia in another death register8. Levina's body was interred in the Cameron Cemetery, Cameron, Marshall County, West Virginia. Her name reportedly appears on the gravestone as "Luvina Parker," with an inscription that reads, "wife of John J."9
