Archibald married Mayme Isabelle Ocker, daughter of William Ocker and Frederica Straub, on 18 March 1894 in Belmont County, Ohio.2

Archie died at age 35 on 6 March 1906 at Wheeling, Ohio County, West Virginia. The cause of death as described on his death certificate reads, "Accidentally killed by Engine of Passenger Train No. 106 of B&O Railroad while on duty as Conductor of Yard Engine No. 561." The accident happened at the corner of 33rd and McCulloch Streets.1 Archie's body was interred on 9 March 1906 in the Greenwood Cemetery, 1526 National Road, Wheeling, Ohio County, West Virginia.1
