She must have been commonly known as Otie, for her name was recorded as "Otie J." for the birth of her first son.4

Leota and William Ollison "Will" Harris obtained a marriage license on 1 June 1901 in Marshall County, West Virginia.5

Leota married William Ollison "Will" Harris, son of Samuel Harris and Mary Elizabeth Richmond, on 2 June 1901 at Cameron, Marshall County, West Virginia. J. A. Canby (or Cauby) certified that he united them in marriage at his house.5

Leota died in 1949.2 Leota's body was interred in the Fork Ridge Christian Church Cemetery, 8681 Fork Ridge Road, Glen Easton, Marshall County, West Virginia; her name appears on the gravestone as "Leota J. Harris." The inscription reads, "William D. Harris and Leota J. his wife."2
