George married Jane Logsdon, daughter of James Logsdon and Joanna Dixson, on 1 January 1861 in Marshall County, Virginia. Edward Dowler certified that he united them in marriage.2

George died at age 83 from senility on 11 May 1922 at Fifth Street, Moundsville, Marshall County, West Virginia.1 George's body was interred on 14 May 1922 in the Fork Ridge Universalist Church Cemetery, Fork Ridge Road, Glen Easton, Marshall County, West Virginia; his name appears on the gravestone as "George Harris." The inscription reads, "George Harris ~ Martha J. his wife."1,3
