Elias's first marriage was to Rachel Emma Teagarden, daughter of Miles Teagarden and Francis (unknown).6

His second marriage was to Elizabeth "Lizzie" (unknown). based on the Civil War Pension application that was filed listing Elizabeth Harris as the widow of Elias R. Harris.7

Elias died from an accident on 2 October 1895 at Cameron, Marshall County, West Virginia.5
