Commonly known by her nickname, Pat. Alternate spellings of her middle name include "Maureen" on her marriage record and "Maurene" in her sister's obituary.

Opal married Jack Lautar, son of Michael "Mike" Lautar and Rose "Rosie" (unknown), on 15 March 1947 at Cameron, Marshall County, West Virginia. A. J. McCloy, minister of the Big Run Christian Church, certified that he united them in marriage.1

Opal died at age 71 on 30 January 1991.2

A memorial service for Opal was conducted on 1 February 1991 at Lutes Funeral Home, Moundsville, Marshall County, West Virginia.2 Opal's body was interred on 1 February 1991 in the Fork Ridge Christian Church Cemetery, 8681 Fork Ridge Road, Glen Easton, Marshall County, West Virginia; her name appears on the gravestone as "Opal M. Lautar." The inscription reads, "Mother."2
