Mary Ann Lydick1

ID#41, b. 23 August 1825, d. 8 October 1910
Father: Samuel Lydick
Mother: Catherine Fair

Birth date: 23 August 1825
Birth place: Pennsylvania.2,1

The different spellings of the Lydick surname as Leidig, Lidick, etc. have been well-documented by various researchers. Mary Ann's name appears as "Mareann Lidick" in the Lydick family Bible. Even though the handwriting in that Bible appears to be by the same person, the surname for three of Samuel and Catherine Lydick's children was spelled as Lidick, the rest are spelled as Lydick.2

Mary Ann married Uriah Harris, son of John Harris and Nancy Agnes Binnegar, on 27 July 1845.3

Mary died at age 85 on 8 October 1910 at Glen Easton, Marshall County, West Virginia. No cause of death was given.4 Mary's body was interred in the New Bethel Cemetery, Bowman Ridge, Glen Easton, Marshall County, West Virginia. Her name reportedly appears on the gravestone as "Mary A. Harris," with an inscription that reads, "Mother (on top of stone); Mary A., his wife (referring to Uriah Harris)."5

  2. [S1047] Lydick Family Bible. Sometimes referred to as the Harris Family Bible because the name of Uriah Harris is written in the front, it seems more appropriate to call it the Lydick Family Bible as the births recorded are the family of Mary Ann (Lydick) Harris. The Bible passed from the Harris' to their granddaughter, Elizabeth "Bess" (Harris) Stewart, who then gave it to her granddaughter, Barbara (Newell) Suarez.
