Robert died at age 71 on 1 February 1995.2,5 Robert's body was interred on 3 February 1995 in the Fork Ridge Christian Church Cemetery, 8681 Fork Ridge Road, Glen Easton, Marshall County, West Virginia; his name appears on the gravestone as "Robert C. Clayton." The inscription on his military marker reads, "PFC, US Army, World War II."6,5
