John Wesley "J. W." Church1,2,3,4

ID#421, b. 8 March 1867, d. 28 December 1949
Father: William S. "Bill" Church
Mother: Elizabeth Jane "Betsy" Roberts

Birth date: 8 March 1867.4,5,6 Federal census records suggest other dates: March 1868 per the 1900 census7 or about 1869 per the 1880 census.8
Birth place: Wetzel County, West Virginia.5 However, his death record indicates that he was born in Calhoun County rather than Wetzel County.4 Although the informant identified on John's death certificate is one of his daughters, she would not have had firsthand knowledge of his birth. At this point, I lean toward the marriage license being more likely to be correct.

John married Anna Arena Hathaway, daughter of Francis Hathaway and Clory McCulty, on 15 September 1888 in Calhoun County, West Virginia. The ceremony was performed by Jesse B. Poling.5

John died of old age at age 82 on 28 December 1949 near Mt. Zion, Calhoun County, West Virginia.4 John's body was interred on 31 December 1949 in the Sand Ridge Cemetery, Calhoun County, West Virginia.9,4
