Birth date: 9 January 1870.2 It has also been reported that Anderson was born on 25 January 1870.3
Birth place: West Virginia.2

He signed his name using only his initials, "A. D." on some occasions, and was known by the nickname, "Anner."

Anderson married Rhoda Gump on 13 November 1898 at Littleton, Wetzel County, West Virginia. James Vanhorn, a minister, certified that he united the couple in marriage.4

Anderson died at age 82 of coronary thrombosis (obstruction of blood flow in a coronary artery by a blood clot) due to chronic arteriosclerotic cardiac disease (thickening of the arterial walls that impairs blood circulation) on 27 December 1952 in Burton, Wetzel County, West Virginia. His death certificate also notes that he had senile dementia.2,5 A.'s body was interred on 30 December 1952 in the Lowe Cemetery (a/k/a Lowe-Higginbotham), Wetzel County, West Virginia.2,6
