Sarah Elizabeth Irey1,2

ID#47, b. 28 December 1818, d. 13 October 1851
Father: not yet identified.
Mother: not yet identified.

Birth date: 28 December 1818 (calculated date based on age at death of 32 years, 9 months, 15 days per gravestone inscription). I found a closeup photograph of her gravestone on Ancestry.com and was given permission to add it to this website (link appears below). That photograph clearly shows that the inscription reads 9 months rather than 3 months as I had previously believed. With that correction, my software calculates her date of birth as 28 December 1818.3 vs. 29 December 1818 as reported by another researcher.4
Birth place: Greenup County, Kentucky.5,6 As a further complication, other sources have reported that Sarah was born in Pennsylvania2 and in (West) Virginia.7

Apparently she was commonly known by her middle name, which I have most often seen spelled as Elizabeth,8 but also as Elisabeth on her gravestone.3 It was only through her daughter's obituary that I learned that her name was Sarah.1 Other spellings of her name include Elizabeth Ira6 and even Emily Iry, found on daughter Nancy's death certificate.9

Sarah Elizabeth reportedly married Isaac Richmond, son of David Richmond and Anna "Ann" Neely, on 22 November 1842 at Glen Easton, Marshall County, Virginia.10,6

Elizabeth died at age 32 on 13 October 1851 in Marshall County, Virginia.3,10,11 Elisabeth's body was interred in the New Bethel Cemetery, Bowman Ridge, Glen Easton, Marshall County, West Virginia; her name appears on the gravestone as "Elisabeth Richmond the wife of Isaac Richmond - Departed this life October the 13th 1851 aged 32 years 9 months and 15 days."3
