Melva Lenora Rutan Aston, 85, of Glen Dale, WV, passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2014, at Reynolds Memorial Hospital.

She was born January 15, 1929, at Marshall County, daughter of the late Estell and Beulah Gatts Richmond.

She retired from the WV Department of Highways as a bookkeeper.

Melva was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, Moundsville and a member of Jr. Q.U.A.M. Mound city Council 6, Moundsville, where she was past counselor and past treasurer. She was also a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 3, Moundsville and a 13-year member of TOPS Club, Moundsville.

Melva was preceded in death by one sister, Evelyn Fish.

Surviving are her husband Joseph "Buck" Aston, Jr., two daughters, Gloris (Bernie) Van Scyoc and Angela Yoho, all of Moundsville; one brother, James Sherwood Richmond of Moundsville, several grandchildren, great, and great-great-grandchildren; some nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received October 7, 2014, at First Christian Church, 3rd and Grant Ave., Moundsville from 10 a.m. until time of memorial services at 11 a.m. with Pastor Wesley Howsare officiating.

A bereavement dinner will follow at church fellowship hall.

Arrangements are entrusted to Anderson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1109 2nd St., Moundsville, WV.
