Bernard Albert Knecht

ID#62, b. 21 December 1903, d. 16 May 1966
Father: John Adam Knecht
Mother: Helen Elizabeth Homan

Birth date: 21 December 1903
Birth place: Ohio.1,2

On 31 July 1926 in Washington, Washington County, Pennsylvania, Bernard applied for a marriage license with Margaret Marie Kuhn, daughter of Adam E. Kuhn and Hattie May Clark.1 It has also been reported that they were married in Cincinnati, Ohio, on that same date,2,3 but that raises questions having found the application for a license issued in Pennsylvania. Perhaps the confusion stems from the fact that Bernard's parents lived in Cincinnati at the time. On the other hand, the Pennsylvania license states that both Bernard and Margaret were living in Moundsville, West Virginia, which was her hometown and where her mother, Hattie, still lived. Considering that Hattie had opposed my grandparents marriage (my grandfather was Margaret's brother), I wonder if Hattie might have also opposed this marriage. That could explain a marriage in the groom's home city rather than the bride's.

On 16 May 1966 at age 62, Bernard died at home (Greene County, Ohio.)4 He has also been reported to have died on 11 May 1966.2
