George Nicholas Schenck1

ID#2858, b. 10 November 1894, d. 18 May 1940
Father: Jacob Schenck
Mother: Anna J. Kuhn

Birth date: 10 November 1894
Birth place: Fostoria, Hancock County, Ohio.2,3

George signed his surname without a second "c" (Schenk vs. Schenck) on the death certificate of his son, Albert. This spelling also is used in the index of "Ohio Births and Christenings, 1821-1962" compiled by FamilySearch. It's unclear why this variation of his surname shows up only in these two records; it doesn't seem to have been used by other family members.4,5

George and Georgia Pearl "Georgie" Bolyard obtained a marriage license on 15 January 1918 in Summit County, Ohio.6 The couple's marriage took place on 18 January 1918 in Summit County, solemnized by C. L. Brown(?), a Roman Catholic priest.6 At that time, George was a violinist.6

At some point, George became a deputy sheriff, the occupation listed on his death certificate3 when he died at age 45 from coronary occlusion on 18 May 1940.3 George's body was interred on 20 May 1940 in the East Oak Grove Cemetery, Morgantown, Monongalia County, West Virginia.3
