Delta applied for a marriage license with Thomas Martin "Tom" Allen, son of Earl Allen and Sadie L. McNinch, on 1 May 1953 in Marshall County, West Virginia. The authorization to marry was signed 07 May 1953 by J. Randall Crow, Clerk of the County Court.1 However, the couple's marriage didn't take place until 26 May 1968. Although the marriage record does not contain a minister's return confirming an actual marriage, the couple's joint gravestone is inscribed with this marriage date 15 years later. Perhaps the time lapse accounts for the missing return.3

At age 86, Delta died on 22 February 2009 at Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Glen Dale, Marshall County, West Virginia.2 Interred on 26 February 2009 in the Fork Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery, Fork Ridge Road, Cameron, Marshall County, West Virginia, her name appears on the gravestone as "Delta M. Allen." An additional inscription reads, "Married July 26, 1968" on Delta's side of the gravestone, and "Our Father Which Art in Heaven" on Tom's side, with "Together Forever" at the bottom center.2
