1890 U.S. Census Veterans Schedule, West Virginia, Calhoun County

ID#1586, b. June 1890
Most of the 1890 U.S. Census was destroyed by a fire at the Commerce Department in Washington, DC, on 10 January 1921. The records for only 6,160 of the 62,979,766 people enumerated survived the fire, less than 10%. As far as I've determined to date, none of the surviving fragments include my family.

Fortunately, there was a special census of Civil War veterans that serves as a partial substitute for the burned federal census. The records shown below were taken from the "Special Schedule of Surviving Soldiers, Sailors, and Marines, and Widows, Etc." which included surviving Union veterans and widows of deceased Union veterans.

For the veterans listed below, you will find the complete transcription of their information on their individual person page in the Census Records box - just click on their name. If you click the link but your browser stays on this page, it indicates that there is no detailed person page included yet for that individual - please check back later.

Original spelling is retained in the information below - be aware that census records often contain many inaccuracies.
