Sarah E. Aston
ID#2021, b. February 1870, d. 3 February 1875
Father: Joseph Aston
Mother: Catharine Rebecca "Kate" Manning
Birth date: February 1870.1 An alternate date of birth would be 02 June 1866 based on the Find-A-Grave information that reports her age at death was 8/8/1. However, I believe this is probably incorrect based on the 1870 U.S. census that reported she was only 5 months old and had been born in February. It's harder to accept the misreporting of a newborn than the misreporting of gravestone info.2
Birth place: West Virginia.1
Sarah died on 3 February 1875.2 She was interred in the Macedonia Cemetery, Proctor District, Wetzel County, West Virginia.2

I believe that his first name was Arthur based on a Find A Grave memorial, but I hope to find more info to either confirm or refute that idea.2
His death was recorded on the Find A Grave website as occurring in the 1870s per his gravestone (the final digit was apparently unreadable).2 He was interred in the Macedonia Cemetery, Proctor District, Wetzel County, West Virginia.2

It is interesting to note that the 1880 federal census lists a daughter named Edda in the household of Joseph Aston2 vs. a son named Eddie in the 1885 Kansas state census.3
As the birth record I found for E. E. Aston identified the child as a male, I lean toward Eddie being the correct name. As the birth was also recorded as a single child, that eliminated the idea that perhaps there could have been twins, one male and one female. Both of the aforementioned censuses show this child as being ten years younger than the oldest child, Carrie. Which leads to yet another interesting idea: Carrie ends with "ie" but was spelled as Carra in the 1880 census ... and Eddie also ends with "ie" but was spelled as Edda in that census. I wonder if the enumerator might have had hearing issues as the "ie" is replaced by an "a" in both cases. That wouldn't explain the gender issue, but it's always possible that the enumerator simply made an assumption that both children were females.

Roscoe Conklin "Ross" Aston1
ID#2024, b. 13 October 1880, d. July 1968
Father: Joseph Aston
Mother: Catharine Rebecca "Kate" Manning
Birth date: 13 October 1880
Birth place: Clay District, Marshall County, West Virginia.2
Commonly known as Ross.3
Per one of his descendants: "Ross was deaf; he lost his hearing about the time he started college (University of Oklahoma). It's a bit of a family mystery as to why he went deaf, as he would have been 20 around the time."3
On 6 April 1917, the United States declared war on Germany and officially entered World War I. Every male living within the U.S. between the ages of 18 and 45 was required to register for the draft during one of three separate registration periods. The third registration was held on 12 September 1918 for men aged 18 to 21 and 31 to 45. At age 37, Roscoe registered in Wagoner County, Oklahoma, and was described as follows: tall, medium build, light blue eyes, brown hair.1
As of 1918 when he registered for the draft, Roscoe was a farmer and was living at Oneta, Oklahoma.1
The U.S. officially entered World War II on 8 December 1941 following an attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. All men ages 18 to 64 and not already in the military were required to register for the draft during one of six registration periods. The Fourth Registration, often referred to as the "Old Man's Registration," was conducted on 27 April 1942 to register men who were between 45 and 64 years old. At age 61, Roscoe registered at Wagoner County, Oklahoma, and was described as follows: 6' 1" tall, 175 lbs., gray eyes, black hair, ruddy complexion. Roscoe actually registered two days earlier than the official date of 27 April 1942 stamped on his card.4
As of 25 April 1942 when he registered for the draft, Roscoe was living at Rt. 2, Broken Arrow, Wagoner County, Oklahoma.5
At age 87, Roscoe died in July 1968.6 As of that date, he was living at Broken Arrow, Tulsa County, Oklahoma.6 While most of Broken Arrow is in Tulsa County, there are some parts that are in Wagoner County - which explains why he was living in the same town when he registered for the draft and when he died, but the counties were different.
